Martin Daly is the undisputed pioneer of surf charter travel. Throughout the 1980's and 1990's he led what can only be described as the most successful surf expedition of all time discovering a treasure trove of waves across the expanse of the Indonesian archipelago. His goal to find perfect, unridden, and remote waves eventually brought him to the west coast of North Sumatra and in particular to an isolated chain of islands off the Sumatran mainland called the Mentawai Islands. It was here that he began to develop a fleet of the best surf charter boats in the world and establish an entirely new concept in surf travel, the "boat trip."
Even after all of these years Martin's frontiersman like spirit lives on and the Indies Trader fleet which now includes five vessels is as strong as ever.
