Hawaii in three parts

When you see a new surf clip unfold in front of your eyes it's often hard to see past the sights and sounds to the motivations behind it. Generally speaking, there are two main reasons you're watching what you're watching.

Love and Money.

Some people make beautiful things because it pays the bills, some because they simply love beautiful things. Or often enough, it's somewhere in the middle.

Anyway, to the point. Our good buddy Mike Cochran just returned from a filming trip to the North Shore. Mike is one of those guys that does it for the love.

No logos, no contracts, just love.

Mike does a great job capturing a snapshot of the North Shore experience.

This first clip shows the some of the usual suspects dominating backdoor, and Jamie O'brien spends the afternoon doing step-offs. From a foam longboard. Insanity.

Seems like the waves were firing for the entirety of his trip. Enjoy Hawaii through Mike's eyes...

The obvious joke to be made here is that products commonly manufactured in Taiwan have a tendency to lack in quality, due to cheap labor and materials, while ironically, the waves produced there can be world class.

Here Ry Craike bravely navigates the sea of crappy household items to find some watery nuggets.
