Competition Postponed Despite Swell Increase
Author: ASP World Tour
November 13, 2003 (Manu Bay,
Raglan,
New Zealand) The Oxbow Pro Longboard was again postponed today, after initially being place on hold this morning. Despite an increasing swell, strong winds and unfavorable conditions persisted. Three days remain in the waiting period with only a day and a half required to complete the prestigious US$50,000 tournament.
Windblown 3ft (1m) waves this morning doubled in size by midday, but wild seas and extremely difficult surf forced organizers to hold off another day.
1996 world champ and this year’s #1 seed Bonga Perkins (Haw) faces Oxbow wildcard
Justin Redman (West Aus) in the first heat when round three resumes, with reigning three-time (1999, 2001 & ‘02) winner
Colin McPhillips (CA,
USA) against
Sam Bleakley (GB) the following match.
All upcoming heats are listed below, and another decision will be made at 6:30am (local time) tomorrow morning, for a probable 7am start.
