ROXY PRO ROUND ONE WILL RUN TODAY
News provided by ASP World Tour on 1 March 2006
Day two of the Quiksilver and Roxy Pro waiting period has dawned under drizzling skies but it has done little to dampen spirits at Snapper Rocks this morning.
The action will get underway in three to four foot (1 meter) and clean conditions shortly.
Quiksilver and Roxy Pro Contest Director Rod Brooks has made a call to run the Quiksilver Core Store Challenge, a tag team event featuring the regions top surf shops plus a pro, beginning at 8am. The Quiksilver Core Store Challenge will be promptly followed by round one of the Roxy Pro, starting at 11am.
The swell is expected to lift throughout the day.
A much anticipated heat three of the Roxy Pro will see three local ladies go head to head as they endeavor to avoid round two, the elimination round. The heat will include reigning world champion Chelsea Georgeson (AUS), reigning Roxy Pro champion and event wildcard Stephanie Gilmore (AUS), as well as ASP Women’s World Tour veteran Serena Brooke (AUS), and should hit the water around midday.
www.aspworldtour.com and www.roxy.com will host the live webcast of the entire event. Interviews, replays, special guests and Roxy’s daily "Live at 5" wrap up are all highlights of the webcast.
